Indie Games Arcade Submission Results

Hello followers,

We have received the answer to our submission to the Indie Games Arcade and unfortunately we won’t be present at the Eurogamer Expo this year.

Replying to our submission, David Hayward stated that we “have the start of something interesting, but it’s looking quite unpolished at the moment”.

This was a point we knew we had against us but the positive comment on the basic concept of our game makes us want to continue moving forward with even greater determination.

We will resume the work on our first level and keep an eye out for other competitions where we might show Samsara.

Samsara submitted to Indie Games Arcade

We have submitted our game to the Indie Games Arcade taking place at Eurogamer Expo 2011. The focus of the team in the past few weeks has been to produce a prototype that could show several ideas involving the game’s main mechanic – the White Light.

The final result is the first level of the game, which we intend to take to the show floor should we get that opportunity. A side-effect of focusing on the experience was that the visual aspect of the screens and video we have submitted is not exactly what we want it to be in the final game.

We will now continue to perfect this demonstration while crossing our fingers to go to London. More news on that coming next week!

A giant turns in its sleep

For a few months now we have been working on our project and it’s thrilling to finally start showing it to everyone. Born from a simple idea of what could be an interesting mechanic, Samsara (working title) is now beginning to take form and steadily becoming what we intend it to be.

We are a small team of five young minds without any experience in video-game production. Only one of us has finished his studies (in Design) and the rest is currently studying Computer Science. However, we don’t think that is holding us back. It is this lack of experience and knowledge that makes us want to go further, overcoming the challenges of producing a game and in the end be proud of what we were able to do.

It is a great time to be developing video games by ourselves. The tools at our disposal are vast and the players are becoming more and more attracted to the work of small companies that even without the huge budgets necessary to make a AAA game are able to create worlds that are nothing short of pure art. That’s precisely where we want to go with Samsara.

Here we will be unveiling information on our project and the challenges of its development. You may already check out some of the background of the game and also the concept art.

We have already created a simple prototype of the game and we are now building a demo of the first level of Samsara in order to submit it to the Indie Games Arcade at Eurogamer Expo before August the 19th. It will be the first time we will be submitting the game to a competition and we can’t wait to hear the reaction of other people to our world.

Until then we will keep working, trying hard to awake this giant now turning gently in its sleep.
